We are a small breeding operation with only a few litters per year. There are four poodles in my pack, two Miniatures and two Standard females. They have all been home raised and live in my home with me. All are crate trained, but none of them live in kennels- they are meant to live with us. I am not concerned with producing quantity, but rather quality. All of my breeding dogs have exceptionally good personalities,and have a naturally laid back temperament. All four dogs live in the house with me and sleep in my bed. Please keep in mind that they are all properly crate trained, as well. None of my dogs live in cages, and all of them have a loving family to share their lives. We really are a family.(My own children are grown and have families of their own.) Because of my medical training and general knowledge about dogs, I am able to keep this pack very healthy. Close observation helps me to nip any problems in the bud before they become anything big. For example, my mini female developed a small lump in the breast tissue several years ago. I was able to have it taken care off quickly, and even though it turned out to be an aggressive form of cancer, it was caught before it had spread, and Sophie enjoys great health today, at the age of 13. My hands and eyes are on my dogs every day because they are so dear to me. I have been a lifelong dog lover, and I have never had any dogs that were more intelligent and affectionate than Poodles. I know that poodles are sometimes considered to be Foo-Foo dogs, but this is not the case. My dogs are allowed to run every day on my 5 acres, and I walk them about 2 miles daily. They are just happy to be with me. At least one of my dogs usually goes to work with me every day, and I switch it around so that they all get a turn. I work one-on-one with patients, as an acupuncturist, and my dogs welcome each and every one of them to my office. Two of my dogs are certified Therapy Dogs and they visit at the local hospital, as well as, participating in a Reading Progran at the local library and at a Middle School. Flash has also received two titles in Agility Competition. You may say, "I didn't know that Poodles could do all that." Well, they are some of the most wonderful creatures that God ever created, and I feel honored to have them share their lives with me. When I go hiking, all four of them come along and they work on voice commands so that they may hike off-leash. What a joy it has been to be able to climb to the top of some of Colorado's 14,000 ft mountains with them. I socialize all of my pups from the very start so that they are ready to bond with you and trust you completely. Please do not even consider buying a pup from me unless you are willing to put in the time and effort to make them into an exceptional dog and life long companion. For every bit of love that you give them, they return it tenfold.
Additionally, I am interested in the genetics of color and am attempting to produce exceptional dogs in a variety of colors- Black/White Partis, Phantoms, Blacks, Creams, Tricolors, Sables, Brindles, and possibly some other colors, as well. My litters are registered in both AKC and UKC. This allows you to compete in shows sponsored by either registry. AKC does not allow the showing in conformation classes of poodles that are not solid colored. But the UKC accepts all colors in conformation classes. AKC requires that poodles shown in conformation must be in the continental clip, but UKC allows other more practical clips. Accepting these clips allows the dogs to lead a more active life. This is how more than 90% of poodles are kept, and it reduces the grooming burden on owners to something about the same as for many other breeds. Even in a pet clip, they remain one of the most elegant breeds that you will ever see. Combine this with intelligence, playfulness, loyalty and affection, and you have the perfect dog- The Poodle.
